Hijab conflict in West-Europe

ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS IN THE WESTERN SOCIETY

Belgium was the first European country who has banned the burqas for the Muslim people. In the other side the hijab is still being allowed. Nowadays there is a big conflict going on between the western society and the ethnic minorities.

The most of the young Muslim people are born in Belgium but they still want to keep their own culture and religion. The conflict between the ethnic minorities is not just because of their exist but also because of their symbolizing. The West European people think that the Muslim people have to adapt themselves to the European culture. That’s what they expect from these cultures what in many cases are impossible to ask. Even the church people think that the symbol of Islam, -the hijab- an attack is to the western democracy.
Muslim people in Europe wanted to be respected. A student at Lessius Mechelen couldn’t do her internship because of her hijab. She applied this summer for an internship at Dilbeek. First they thought she was the one they were searching for. After a while they heard that she had a Moroccan background which has been a big problem for the company. They asked her to take off her hijab and return. She said “I would never do such a thing. My religion is my own privacy and how could they ask me to leave my own religion on a side for them?” Not only internship but her little sister can’t go to school with her hijab too. The Belgian community has still problems with the Muslims who are acting like it is their own country. Most of the students with high education think that the ethnic minorities have to respect their thoughts. They think that it’s now more than a conflict between the regions. They say in common “We want to respect them but it’s now more than a religion. This is our country and they have to respect want we want”.
Problems are not only in the education. The political problems are in their high period too. The neighbor county The Netherlands has the same problems with the ethnic minorities. There is a case going on with Geert Wilders in Holland. The politician and the leader of the Party for Freedom started a campaign to stop the Islamisation of The Netherlands. He has a lot of comments from the habitants as from the immigrants. He is describing the Islam as a terrorist religion and he claims that some of the texts in Qur’an incite violence. He has some comments from Islamic young people from Turkey too. He is identifying the Muslim people like they are extremists and he argues that there is not a such thing like modern Islam. The young generation of Turkish people who lives in Turkey have their comments on this argument. They also think that it’s a reaction of those people to the Western lifestyle. The Turkish society has a different vision on Islam than the most Islamic-Turkish people in Europe. In Turkey women is not allowed to walk in governmental places with hijab.
The banish of burqas in Europe is being described as to give the Islamic women the freedom what they need. Teri Schultz, Global Post’s EU correspondent based in Brussels told PBS, "They feel that this is a sign of oppression, and that if these women are not allowed to wear the burqa they won't have to wear it and they can walk around freely".
